Title

Adopt City Council Resolution Delegating to the City Manager Disability Retirement Determinations of Local Safety Officer Employees of the California Public Employees' Retirement System

Summary

The California Public Employees' Retirement System requires that contracting agencies, which includes the City of Fort Bragg, make local determinations regarding whether a public safety employee is disabled for purposes of retirement and whether the disability is "industrial" as defined by Public Employees' Retirement Law.  The California Public Employees' Retirement System has requested an updated Resolution delegating that authority to a position/offical with the City of Fort Bragg.  In 1981, that authority was delegated to the City Administrator and in 1992 that authority was delegated to the incumbent in the position of City Manager, in addition to establishing the procedure for making such determinations.  This Resolution delegates the authority to the incumbent in the position of City Manager in order to proceed with applications for disability retirements of safety officer employees.
