Title

Adopt City Council Resolution Adopting Regulations for Candidates for Elective Office Pertaining to Candidate Statements Submitted to the Voters at an Election

Summary

The most recent City Council Resolution adopting regulations for City Council candidates with respect to candidate statements was Resolution 3175-2008 adopted on June 9, 2008. Pursuant to an October 10, 2018 Settlement Agreement with the Coast Committee for Responsive Representation and Jacob R. Patterson, the City agreed to eliminate fees and deposits associated with running for City Council and ensure that candidate statements are published in both Spanish and English. This Resolution repeals Resolution 3175-2008 and provides that the City of Fort Bragg will pay all costs for printing and translations of candidate statements. This Resolution, if adopted, will apply to the November 2020 municipal election and at each municipal election after that time until repealed or replaced.
