Title

Adopt City Council Resolution Extending the Declaration of a Shelter Crisis Pursuant to Government Code Section 8698.2

Summary

On November 13, 2018, the City Council adopted Resolution 4136-2018 declaring a shelter crisis with an expiration of six months after adoption unless reauthorized by City Council.  Since declaring the shelter crisis, $3,036,740 of Homeless Emergency Aid Program (HEAP) funds were awarded by the Mendocino County Continuum of Care to the 68-unit Danco project which includes permanent supportive housing for homeless seniors, veterans and families.  In order for HEAP funds to be spent in the City for Capital projects, the City must have a declaration of a shelter crisis adopted.  Without the reauthorization of the shelter crisis, the $3,036,740 cannot be expended in Fort Bragg.
