Title
Adopt City Council Resolution Adopting a List of Projects for Fiscal Year 2019-20 Funded by SB 1: The Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017
Summary
Prior to receiving an apportionment of Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds from the California State Controller in a fiscal year, the City must submit to the California Transportation Commission an adopted list of projects proposed to be funded with these funds by May 1st of each year. All projects proposed to receive the fiscal year funding must be adopted by resolution by the City Council at a regular public meeting each fiscal year [Streets and Highways Code (SHC) Section 2034(a)(1)].
The Project List included in the Resolution includes locations identified throughout the course of 2018 by members of the public via Traffic Committee Modification requests. These requests went through a thorough review by the Traffic Committee and received final recommendation for approval by the Public Works and Facilities Committee in February 2019. Several locations are notably overlapped in the 2018 Street Safety Plan Prepared by W-Trans. The kinds of work garnered from the traffic modifications is ordinarily financed using General Fund money and the work is performed by the City’s Maintenance Crews. The use of Local Streets and Roads (LSR) state funds, instead of general funds, for the projects herein meet the objectives of the state established guidelines for RMRA.
