Title

Adopt City Council Resolution Reaffirming the Decision to Rescind and Revoke Resolution No. 4109-2018 Declaring the City of Fort Bragg's Intent to Transition from At-Large Elections for City Council to District-Based Elections for City Council

Summary

On July 9, 2018, the City Council reluctantly adopted Resolution No. 4109-2018, declaring its intent to transition to district-based elections in order to protect the City from the high cost of litigation associated with a California Voting Rights Act claim from local attorney Jacob Patterson, on behalf of the Coast Committee for Responsive Representation. On August 13, 2018, the City Council unanimously voted to rescind Resolution No. 4109-2018. The attached Resolution reaffirms and formalizes that action and revokes the City Council's intention to transition to district-based elections for City Councilmembers.
