Authorize City Manager to Execute a Grant of License Permitting Placement of a Private Water Backflow Device, Concrete Pad, and Bollards in the Public Right of Way in the Alley Behind 863 N Main Street
Summary
The owners of the Speedex Gas Station located at 863 N Main St. in Fort Bragg applied for and obtained a Design Review permit for an 879 square foot addition to the service station in December 2016. As part of the review process, it was determined that pursuant to Fort Bragg Municipal Code Section14.05.060, this facility is required to install a backflow prevention assembly on their water service line. Because the water line runs through private property (the Carpet Store) the most suitable location for the backflow device is in the right of way of the adjacent alley. A revocable grant of license will permit the owners to install a private water backflow device, concrete pad, and bollards as designated on the plat without creating a permanent easement or right. The area of encroachment is a 5’ x 2’ concrete pad to be located in the alley.
