Adopt by Title Only and Waive Second Reading of Ordinance 929-2017 Repealing and Replacing Chapter 9.68 (Preservation of Parks) of Title 9 (Public Peace, Safety and Morals) of the Fort Bragg Municipal Code to Allow Segways in City Parks

 

Summary

On May 8, 2017, the City Council of the City of Fort Bragg is to consider adoption of Ordinance 929-2017, said ordinance having been introduced for first reading (by title only and waiving further reading of the text) on April 24, 2017.

 

The proposed ordinance will repeal and replace Chapter 9.68 (Preservation of Parks) of Title 9 (Public Peace, Safety and Morals) of the Fort Bragg Municipal Code. This ordinance updates Title 9 -Public Peace, Safety, and Morals - to include new regulations that allow Segways, a type of Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Device, on the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail and on developed trails in City parks. Commercial Segway tours in City parks will be allowed with an approved concessionaire agreement. The updated chapter includes two new sections entitled “Purpose and Intent” and “Definitions” and renumbers the sections accordingly.

 

If adopted, Ordinance 929-2017 will become effective June 7, 2017.
