Summary
The Guest House Roof Replacement Project was advertised for bid on January 26, 2017, February 2, 2017 and February 9, 2017 with bids due on February 15, 2017. This is the third time this project has been put out to bid. The first time it was bid, the one bid that was received was defective and therefore rejected. The second time it was bid, no bids were received. This third time, one (1) bid was received, with the apparent low bid coming from Redwood Roofers in the amount of $237,084.00, exceeding the Engineer’s estimate by $57,054. Staff has confirmed that Redwood Roofers has the proper license, experience and meets the necessary requirements to complete the project as bid. The Project is funded by the Capital Improvement Project Fund for the Guest House Museum Rehabilitation, and appropriations were made in the FY 2016-17 Budget, Account No. 416-5506-0731. City staff is currently advertising the Guest House Museum painting project and the project will also be funded by the Capital Improvement Project Fund for the Guest House Museum Rehabilitation. Based on the lowest responsive bid received, a budget amendment may be required to award the Guest House painting project. A budget amendment is not necessary to award this contract.
