Adopt City Council Resolution Approving Budget Amendment 2017-18 Amending the FY 2016/17 Budget to Appropriate Funds in the Amount of $2,000 from the General Fund Unallocated Fund Balance to Account No. 110-4190-0319 to Cover Costs for an Emergency Preparedness "Tabletop Exercise"

...Summary

California Government Code 3100-3109 states, "All public employees are hereby declared to be disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them by their superiors or by law."  The employees of the City of Fort Bragg are committed to providing the best possible services in the case of an emergency.  Part of this commitment involves the ongoing training of employees, specifically those who would be responsible for any or all aspects of emergency managerment.

A comprehensive full-day training (also known as a "tabletop exercise") has been scheduled for City management, mid-management, Police Sergeants, Maintenance Worker Leads, the City's IT technician as well as the Fort Bragg Fire Chief. This training will provide essential theory and practice in preparation for a real emergency. The City has received a proposal from two regional trainers utlilized by other local agencies, including the County of Mendocino, to conduct the training. The training is expected to cost $2,000 and funds for this were not included in the FY 2016/17 adopted budget. Staff recommends that the Council approve a budget amendment to allocate funds for the emergency preparedness training exercise.
