Summary

The City’s Active Transportation Program (ATP) grant provides part of the construction funding for the Chestnut Street Multi-Use Facility project.  The ATP grant also provides up to $26,000 for non-infrastructure Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program activities. In addition, approximately $17,000 remains from the City’s 2011 Federal Cycle 3 Safe Routes to School grant for non-infrastructure program activities. To fulfill the City’s responsibilities for SRTS program activities, a SRTS Coordinator is needed. On September 14, 2015, City Council approved a scope of work for a consultant contract for a SRTS Coordinator. A Request for Proposals (RFP) was released on October 14, 2015 to an extensive list of consultants, posted on the City’s “Bids & RFOs” notifications page, posted in the Fort Bragg Advocate News, and posted at the Mendocino Council of Governments (MCOG) website. Four responsive proposals were received by the due date, and a team of four City staff members from the Community Development and Public Works departments evaluated the proposasl based on criteria listed in the RFP. The proposal from Walk & Bike Mendocino, a program of North Coast Opportunities, was unanimously recommended as the top selection for contract award by the evaluation committee.
