Summary
In January 2014, the City of Fort Bragg acquired the "Johnson Property," an approximately five-acre promontory adjacent to Noyo Headlands Park. In January 2015, the City Council certified a Subsequent EIR for the Fort Bragg Coastal Restoration and Trail Project (Phase II). The Subsequent EIR includes a mitigation measure requiring completion of an extended Phase I archaeological survey of the Johnson Property prior to establishing the final alignment for the side trails on the property. In 2014, the City entered into a contract with Pacific Legacy to complete archaeological services for the Coastal Trail project. Staff recommends an amendment to that contract in order for Pacific Legacy to undertake the extended Phase 1 archaeological work for the trail alignment on the Johnson Property.
