Adopt City Council Resolution Approving City Participation in the Redwood Empire Municipal Insurance Fund (REMIF) Self Funded Group Medical Plan
Summary
The City's employee and retiree medical benefits are offered through the Redwood Empire Municipal Insurance Fund (REMIF). In April 2015, the REMIF Board of Directors approved a plan to move from offering fully-insured medical plans to offering self-funded medical plans for current employees, their dependents and eligible early retirees beginning on July 1, 2015. This move resulted in revised plan options and improved (lower) plan premiums. The Finance and Administration Committee meet on April 21, 2015 to review the plan options and premiums and make a recommendation to City Council regarding the plans that will be offered effective July 1, 2015. The Committee recommended that medical plan options, as shown in Exhibit A of the attached resolution, be offered in FY 2015/16 to City employees, their dependents, and eligible early retirees.
