...Summary
The City Council approves all salary schedules which include classification titles and pay rates/ranges at the time a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for each bargaining unit is approved; when updates to the compensation and benefits for unrepresented employees are approved; or when specific wage and/or classification title adjustments are needed. The City has a long-standing practice of posting these approved salary schedules on the City website as well as having copies available upon request. The California Public Employees' Retirement Code requires the City to have a publicly adopted and posted Compensation Schedule. With all of the recent adoptions of MOUs and Resolutions affecting the employees of the City, the attached Resolution meets the requirement of California Code of Regulations ยง570.5 as confirmed by CalPERS in an email dated January 8, 2018. The Master Salary Rate Compensation Plan attached as "Exhibit A" incorporates all recent changes to compensation for City employees.
In addition to the MOUs and resolutions which were adopted for all employee organizations and groups within the City, recent classification changes include a re-organization of the Community Development Department following the retirement of the Special Projects Manager. The changes are:
1. Remove Associate Planner classification and replace with Assistant Planner classification (this is an entry level planning position and is compensated at a lower rate than the Associate Planner)
2. Remove Planning Technician classification and replace with Administrative Assistant - Community Development (this has a different job description; compensation rate is identical to Planning Technician).
